Law for Artists

Being an artist - with an art business - is not all about making art!

Real life as an artist with an art business involves:
  • a lot of activities and practices which mean you can continue to make and share and sell your art.
  • a lot of routines which you need to make time for and which need to be followed if you aren't going to be wasting your time and living and working and storing your art in a complete mess.
  • laws which MUST be observed
Plus professional practices which can make a difference between being a successful artist and an "also ran".
This section is both ambitious and under development!
It covers:
  • Law for Artists - The Fundamentals
  • Business Administration and Contract Management
  • Financial Administration
  • Commissions, Project Proposals and Project Management

If you need legal advice from a professional, I suggest you might like to take a look at the website / Facebook Page / Instagram account of Suzanne Dibble who is very experienced at providing online advice on small (and not so small!) but important matters to small business owners.

She is NOT oriented towards artists as such and I have NOT used her services. However I've been impressed by the way she shares a lot of information for free and makes the rest of her advice very accessible.
