If you're new to submitting artwork to juried exhibitions you tend to find out all the things you "need to know" the hard way - through error and omission!
Friends will provide their own tips - but very few have ever written down their own checklists.

MY TIP: The one thing I'd add is that every time I do one of these I find it incredibly helpful if - BEFORE I cut the mat from the mountboard - I mark the INSIDE of the two mats with a large pencil cross. That way I make sure I put the two pieces of mat together the right way round.
